Savlon Antiseptic Liquid 56ml combines Cetrimide and Chlorhexidine Gluconate for powerful antimicrobial action. It is widely used for first aid treatment, personal hygiene, and cleansing wounds, thanks to its effectiveness against a broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi, and viruses. To use, dilute the liquid for safe skin application.

Indications

Cetrimide & Chlorhexidine are indicated for disinfection, cleansing, and irrigating wounds and dirty skin. It is highly effective in reducing infection risks in minor wounds and abrasions.

Pharmacology

Cetrimide is a quaternary ammonium antiseptic; it has bactericidal activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.

Chlorhexidine is an antimicrobial agent; it is active against a wide range of gram-negative and grampositive vegetative bacteria, yeasts, dermatophyte fungi and lipophilic viruses.

Dosage & Administration

Rinse the area to be cleaned with water, apply the minimum amount of irrigation necessary to cover the wound area and wash gently. Rinse again thoroughly. Apply to wound as necessary. Discard remaining solution after use.

Pediatric Use: Use with care in neonates, particularly in premature infants. Chlorhexidine may cause irritation or chemical burns.

Adult: Topical per ml of liquid contains cetrimide 30 mg and chlorhexidine 3 mg: Use as directed.

Interaction

There are no known drug interactions and none are well documented.

Contraindications

Not to be used in the eye, ear, mucous membrane or body cavities.

Side Effects

Repeated application may lead to skin irritation.
